I know I'm behind with the tutorials but I plan dedicate one of the two weeks we are off to catching up with them. I also seem to find it hard to sit down and do the tutorials but this might just be down to the way I work.

  1. Character Design Feedback

I think your project demonstrates the importance of character development, particularly for Frist the scientist. His final design has a lot of charm and personality, particularly in his gesture and expression sheets, and I feel you have really pushed your skills in order to bring him to life. However I do think the sidekick character needs more work as he currently feels more of a prop than a fully realised character. I would strongly suggest taking some time to develop this character further. Perhaps it could have some useful inbuilt gadgets, and a memorable personality, something to counter the laconic central hero.

Your environments display the same clean style of the characters, so they both seem integrated. However I feel it would have been good to see more development of the arena to help drive the narrative. At the moment both the environment and the storyboard lacks atmosphere and drama. As the narrative is rather dramatic and dangerous, an air of menace and threat could have been injected with dramatic lightning, the arrival of the beast in the shadows, nervous glances etc. Again i think this is still worth developing further.

Overall then, I think it is clear that you have spent some thought and energy developing your central character, and it has been good to see your progression on this project. If all aspects of your design bible were of the same level of development, you would have a strong project so I definitely think it is in your interest to work on this further. And please check your spelling! - JW
