Premise: Font Ideas

Image
I've been trying to find a font that would fit in with my project when being used in the Art Of or in the animation's titles. I didn't want to have a font that was too over the top as my story has a similar tone to that of a bedtime story I was thinking about having it look like it came from a children's book, easy to read but still playful to look at. I was also thinking about it having a starry element to it so that it fits in with the key focus of the animation. The reason why I have only used the words Sun, Moon and Star in this example is becasue I have yet to come up with a overall title of my project. So for the time being I'm going to use these words to get an idea of the font style.

Premise: Sun Tail Dress Designs

Image
Just like what I've done with Moon, I've been redesigning Sun's tail so that it is bigger and had more of a flow to it, similar to that of a flame.Out of all of my ideas I am more drawn to a mix of 4 and 1. Any feed back is welcomed.

Premise: Moon Tail Dress Designs

Image
I've been trying to redo Moon's tail to look more like a dress after getting some feed back. I've also made it so that the whole of her body is slightly longer. The ones that I'm liking the most, or that I feel I fits Moon's personality, are 3 and 5. Any feedback is welcomed.

Premise: Sun Design Redo

Image
This re-design of Sun is already out of date but I feel that I need to post it so that any changes to this character can be made.

Premise: Moon Design Redo

This is a re-design of Moon after I had got some feed back about the overall design. There are some elements that I'm not happy with, such as the crown and hands, but I do plan to go back and change them.

Premise: Design Influence Change Up

Image
After getting some feed back on my designs for Sun and Moon I was pointed in the direction for the designer Erte Romain. The way that he over exaggerates the outfits he created might be what I need to do to help me with the characters' overall look, most imporantly with the crowns.

Premise: Sun and Moon Designs

Image
After a few redesigns and feedback, Sun and Moon are getter close to having their overall designs finished. There still needs to be the odd tweak here and there, such as adding in smaller details, but I am quit happy with how the designs are coming along. Moon looks calm and gentle while Sun looks boyish and loud. The only thing that I am unsure about right now is if I should set the colour opacity to 100% or at 50%. Any feedback is welcomed. Colours at 100% Colours at 50%

Premise: World Ideas

Image
After steping back and looking at the over all progress of my project it was pointed out to me that I hadn't spent that muct time on thinking about what the over all world look like. This means the parts in the poem when screens about the Sun and the Moon are being explaned or they themselves are talking about something else. In my head I had an idea of the way that I wanted to show it but I had yet to get the early ideas down on paper as the characters where taking up a lot of time. The main idea that I had was to have the screens appear and move in a way that was similar to a Victorian paper theatre. However, after sometime I started to think that the viewer might not be able to pick out the different parts that I wanted them to see moving as they would blend in to the background. To get round this problem I decided to put a white outline round the parts that I wanted to show are moving, to make it look like cut out pieces of paper, which is similar to the art style used in

Premise: Star Designs

Image
As I've been designed the Sun and Moon I've been slowly working on the stars that will appear in the animation as I felt that when I had a better understanding of the characters overall looks then the stars' design would fall in to place. I've also thinking about how I would make them look more like the willow lanterns while also trying to make them have the classic star shape, such as thinking about how they would be built and where the lines should go. Some back that I already have picks out numbers 4, 5 and 10 as being the best ones with elements that I could bring out in later designs 4 - The texture that I have used to make it look like a lantern. 5 -  The long point that the bottom of the star to give it a classic look. 10 - The smaller points that I have used to make it like cute. Any feed back is welcomed.

Premise: Voice Over Ideas

Image
As I've been working on my project I have been subconsciously been thinking about the type of voice over that I would want for my animaion. I know that this would be something that I would have to do form the first day but now I feel that I have got to the point that I need to start looking in to it abit more. After talking about it with Phil I was able to get some ideas/pointers, as well as fleashing out some of my own ideas, that could work well with the style and themes of my animation. Some of the things that I need to keep in mind are: As the story is told in the style of a poem that is also playing the role of a type of bedtime story the voice used would have to be calm and inviting. As the strongest character in the story is the Moon a female voiceover might be the best way of showing the way they feel about the Sun. So far I've only been able to find three video clips that fit with what I imageine the voice over would sound like. They are the mother from the f

Premise: Character Design Updates

Image
After getting some feed back on the designs for my characters I set about putting them together to try and create an over all design. I started by looking at what I and others liked about the designs that we picked out before putting them together. The designs that were picked up on I also started to look at the colour palettes that I might try and used for my characters. I still need to work on the face but feel the when I get the over all look of the character I might be able to work out the face. Any feed back is welcomed. Moon designs Sun designs
