To get an understanding of how to use Adobe Story we picked a clip from a show and tried to put it back in to it's script form. The clip I used is from Hellsing Ultimate. Test Script with Adobe Story by Rhia Crouch on Scribd The clip I used as a reference. After this we used the script we had made to create a storyboard just by using the information we had writtien down. I did have one problem as I had seen the scene that I was using so many times I already knew how it should look, to get round this I made some of the shots up but still tried to kept to the type of shots that were used. When we had filled out all or most of the storyboard we saved each of the panels and brought them into Adobe Premiere Pro to start making them into an animatic. For my scene it mostly involved moving the panels up and down or left and right. Animatic Test from Rhia Crouch on Vimeo .
They say that in space none can hear you scream, that's because it's a vacuum but that doesn't mean we can't imagine what it sounds like. By using a series of different sounds that have been recorded by NASA we put them together to create a new soundscape for a video that had also been recorded by NASA. After my OGR my story has had to go through another rewrite but only to fix some points that didn't fit with the overall plot. Story Idea A light house keeper and his young daughter are setting up and turning on the lantern of the light house as a storm starts to roll in. As they watch the storm from inside their home the keeper spots a boat that’s in trouble and is heading for the rocks. The man tells his daughter to stay in the light house no matter what happens as he goes out to help. The young girl watches from the window as the storm becomes more wild and the waves violently hit the rocks. Years later, in the present, we see that the girl has now grown up. She is seen standing in front of her father’s grave showing that he didn’t survive, it is also shown that she has become a light house keeper herself to carry on his memory and to protect others from the same fate. However, the grief of her loss is still with her as she now spends all of her days and nights locked awa...

After getting some feedback on my story idea I chose to re-write to try and develop it further. Story Idea - Re-write A young girl and her father, a light house keeper, are out fishing at sea and all seems fine. However, when they are going back to shore a storm suddenly appears and the boat hits the rocks throwing them both out in to the sea. Years later, in the present, we see that the girl has survived the accident and has now grown up. She is seen standing in front of her father’s grave showing that he didn’t survive, it is also shown that she has become a light house keeper herself to carry on his memory and to protect others from the same fate. However, the grief of her loss is still with her as she now spends all of her days and nights locked away in her light house on her own with none to talk to. However, a young man appears at her door one day and introduces himself as having moved into the old fisherman’s cottage by the shore. He tries to befriend her, ...
In our second character workshop lesson we were asked to bring in an image of a character, I choose Cynthia from the Pokemon games. For this lesson we were looking at the way in which different shapes can make up a character's body and how it can hit to what type of character they are, be it that they are the strong type, the sidekick or the villain. After getting an understanding of how these shapes work we took the character we choose and tried to redraw them using different shapes. Cynthia from Pokemon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum
I have been going over the words that I have been given for my animation trying to think about how I can put them all together. I have been taking on broad the ideas that I've been given to me by my creative partners and it has helped with trying to work out why the Light House Keeper would be at the cemetery but the food blender is still giving me problems. Overall, I've only been able to think up one story that makes use of all three elements in some way but I feel that there could still be some changes made if this is the only thing that I can come up with. Story Idea Light house keeper goes about his day watching the sea at night checking for ships and making sure that they see the light, until his wife nags at him to fix the blender. This goes on day after day with the wife nagging at him at different points about it. Until one day he goes in to the cemetery to see a particular grave stone that is tucked away at the back, it turns out to be his wife's grave a...
To get an understanding of what it is like to draw out a storyboard we took a sceen from a film and draw it out in that style. This was to get us thinking about how the sceen would have been drawn out when it was taken from the script so that the animatiors could see what camera angles are going to be used and if there was any action that needed to be added in. For this I chose a screen from Kung Fu Panda (2008). You can see the clip I used as reference here (the main focus being the first 40 or so seconds).
Simple style Iconic style Our first character workshop lesson was us getting an understanding of the different drawing styles that are used in animation. To do this we were each given a different character and had to draw them out in a new style, for this I got Popeye so I tried to draw him in the styles of "Simple" and "Iconic".

For the start of our Script To Screen project we picked at random three different elements that have to feature in our animation, these different elements were a character, location and a prop. For my animation I have to included: Character - Light House Keeper Location - Cemetery Prop - Food Blender
